My Mom tends Kalista overnight on thursday so I am able to work. (((thanks Mom!!!)))
We meet her half way at the cane creek rest area. When we get there we always have to get out and take a little walk. Kalista has a favorite table that she always sits on while we wait for Grandma to come.
Now that it is autumn it is just beautiful down there. The cottonwoods are this sunny yellow color and the leaves are just raining down. They get all over your car and in your hair.
As you may recall Kalista NEEDS everything to be in its place. She is a super good cleaner.
As we took our walk she had to kick off any leaves that were on the sidewalk and when we got to her table she had to clean all the leaves off and make sure it was clean enough to set on.
It just shows how different our thinking is. I look out there and see a golden wonderland.... she sees a Big Fat Mess. Thank goodness she only felt the need to clean her spot in the park or we would still be there.
She finally got it prefect and we sat there giggling. Suddenly she noticed that it was cold enough that her breath was making fog. I could see it in her eyes she just lit up. She reached over and grabbed my head and made me look at her. "Hhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa........... mom! Hhhhhaaaaa.
Kalista was so excited and it made me excited that she wanted to show me something. It is a new development that she will share her world with me. It was one of those perfect moments where Kalista was bigger than her autism and I am so grateful for it.
We sat there making fog, laughing and crying happy tears till Mom came. So it sounded like Hhaaa haaa hee hee haaaa. I am sure all the people there thought we were a little crazy and I bet they wished they were as happy as us.

I can't believe that I am able to comment today.
One of my favorite places between La Sal and Moab is Kane Springs. Nothing is more gorgeous than the fall leaves on the cottonwoods there.
I can just hear you and K laughing. Love you so much.
